Last July 4, 2016, forty-seven cop officials in Northern Mindanao went through a drug testing at Camp Vicente Alagar later in the afternoon just right after the command conference.

“All specimen showed ‘negative’ for drug use,” said Philippine National Police (PNP)-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Superintendent Surki Sereñas in a text message. According to him, the result was relayed by Senior Superintendent Felipe Abingan to the regional police headquarters in Camp Alagar situated in Baranga Lapasan.

Sereñas added that those who were put through the mandatory drug examination were directors and their respective deputies from Northern Mindanao’s five provinces and nine cities, as well as the regional directorial staff.

All over the country, the PNP has about 2,405 senior officials. And in Northern Mindanao, there are more than 7,000 police personnel. Of which, 20 non-commissioned police officers were dismissed because they were found positive for drug use.
