October 26, 2016, Wednesday, according to 4th Infantry Division (4ID) commanding general Major General Benjamin Madrigal Jr, 8 out of the 988 soldiers and 3 members of the Citizen’s Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) who underwent random drug tests were dismissed from service after testing positive in drug use.

He added that the drug tests were done ahead of the Philippine Army’s new role in law enforcement operations in Caraga and Northern Mindanao regions.

Madrigal’s pronouncement was made during the demilitarization of some 164 assorted firearms at the 4ID’s headquarters situated in Camp Evangelista. Among the destroyed firearms were shotguns, revolvers, pistols, rifles, SMGs and RPGs.
