02 May 4Ps Allegedly Used By LP to Boost Roxas-Roberdo Campaign
Last Thursday, April 28, the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY), an urban poor group, wrote to the Chairman of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Andres Bautista, regarding the issue of Liberal Party’s (LP) use of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to promote the MarLeni campaign.
The 4Ps has been reported to push the recipients of the program to attend rallies intended for the MarLeni Presidential and Vice-Presidential campaigns.
“Unity walk” was the term used when the beneficiaries were invited last Monday, but they were surprised that the event they have attended to was a Roxas-Robredo rally!
It was reported also that the DSWD secretary Dinky Soliman was also present in the rally.
The authorized body of the DSWD themselves informed the community that they can only get the benefits from the program if they pay homage to these conditions: Vote for Roxas and Robredo, regularly attend rallies for the Roxas-Robredo campaign, and never attend any rallies that are not coming off from the Aquino administration and its allies.
This is an open violation by using government programs to blackmail and promote the Liberal party’s Presidential and Vice-Presidential bets.
These are the clamors of the urban poor group that protested on Thursday in front of the Palacio del Gobernador who urges the Comelec to perform an investigation regarding the issue.
Recently the LP campaign has been marred by issues on vote buying and forced compliance when a video has been circulated online showing an LP rally in Pikit, North Cotabato where cash envelopes are distributed to the masses.
