08 Feb 5 Abu Sayyaf Members Killed, 1 captured in Sulu clash
Five members of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) were killed as the Armed Forces of the Philippines intensified its conduct of focused military operations in the province of Sulu.
The Joint Task Force Sulu of the AFP also capture one bandit under ASG sub-leader Alhabsy Misaya who is based in Indahan, Sulu and reported to have more than 40 members.
AFP said the encounter happened around 8 a.m in the morning in Sitio Talok Talok, Capual, Sulu which lasted for about 20 minutes. As a result five ASG members were dead while no casualties reported on the side of the Philippine military.
The military also seized high-powered firearms from the Abu-Sayyaf, including four M16 and four M14 rifles, according to Spokesperson Capt. Joann Petinglay of the Western Mindanao Command of the AFP.
The Joint Task Force Sulu of the AFP are in the area to pursue ASG members and possible recovery of kidnap victims.
