5-Year-Old From China Tests Positive For Coronavirus In Cebu City

Mga higala! A 5-year-old boy from China had tested positive for CORONAVIRUS after he was confined in a hospital at CEBU CITY, due to fever, throat irritation, and cough.

According to a report from ABS-CBN News, the boy is said to be from the city of Wuhan, where a new strain of coronavirus was recently discovered.

He arrived in Cebu last January 12, to “study English” said Dr. Ferchito Avelino of the Department of Health, and was confined on the same day.

However, the boy tested negative for MERS-COV and SARS, and was only positive with a “non-specific pancoronavirus” which doctors are still trying to identify.

Medical samples have now been sent to specialists in Australia to identify which coronavirus strain the boy is carrying.

The DOH is now conducting more investigations about the incident.
