5,176 Tons Of Trash Exported By South Korea To Cagayan de Oro City, To Be Shipped Back Soon

Mga higala! According to the Department of Finance (DOF), the 5,176 metric tons of remaining garbage illegally imported by South Korea to Cagayan de Oro City, will finally be shipped back soon after Seoul promised to shoulder the cost of shipping.

In case you don’t remember, the said garbage arrived last July and October 2018, “unlawfully imported” by the Cebu-based Verde Soko Philippines Industrial Corp. as plastic synthetic flakes.

A later inspection then revealed that the shipment contained wood, clothing, and biohazardous materials like old batteries and medical wastes.

According to a report by Inquirer.Net, the waste materials from South Korea are currently being stored within the Phividec Industrial Authority premises in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
