7 dead, 8 injured in a vehicular accident in Manticao, MisOr

In an article from CNN Philippines, seven people died and eight were injured after a military vehicle bumped on a passenger van in Manticao, Misamis Oriental last Monday, July 16.

According to investigators, Staff Sergeant Danny Tenezo onboard a Simba A6030 vehicle unit overtook a trailer truck at a road line curve then crashed into the van and causing a motorcycle to be sideswiped.

Manticao Police Inspector Marlo Laniosa said the military vehicle was part of a convoy led by an army truck which at that time headed to Cagayan de Oro from Iligan City to load logistic supply at Laguindingan Airport.

Moreover, police officers identified the civilians who died on the scene as Hadji Macaumbos, Rey Mancao, Siete Guimba, Jocelyn Baldoz, Hadji Bangcola (the van driver), and an unidentified woman.

Another van passenger Nobalsa Domapo was rushed to the hospital but has been declared dead last Tuesday, July 18.

Wounded victims Renzo Pagayon, Raima Tangote, Norhaya Ampaan, Hadji Lanto, Reham Lanto, Dimpinto Norjama, Samsodin Domapo and a 9-year-old boy were rushed to  Manticao Provincial Hospital and are now recovering after the incident.

On the other hand, it was discovered that the driver of the van failed to recognize the light from the military vehicle while overtaking the passenger van resulting to the accident.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Tenezo was detained in Manticao Police Station and will be awaiting charges such as reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicides, multiple physical injury, and damage to property.
