20 Jul Kagay-anon Rey Nambatac Exploded with 40 Points and 10 Rebounds! Carried Letran Over San Sebastian
On Tuesday, July 19, Rey Nambatac from Cagayan de Oro City exploded with 40 points and 10 rebounds, carrying the Letran Knights to win over the San Sebastian Stags, 90-77, at the San Juan Arena.
The Letran Knights are now 4-1 in the standings.
Nambatac was the first player to scored 40 points or more this season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He was also the first player of the Letran Knights to have reached at least 40 points in a game since Kevin Alas’ 43 points 4 years ago in 2012.
Seems like Nambatac’s assumption of Alas’ number 6 jersey number has lived into its promise after delivering the impressive performance.
“’Yung days niya sa Letran na ginagamit niya jersey No. 6 gusto ko makuha rin ‘yun or magawa rin ‘yung mga ginawa niya para sa Letran,” he said.
Nambatac spent his elementary days at Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori School here in Cagayan de Oro City.
Aside from Nambatac, Kagay-anon Jiovani Jalalon of the Arellano University Chiefs is also making waves in the NCAA and is known to be the best point guard in Philippine college basketball today.
