03 Nov President Rodrigo Duterte Visits Parents’ Grave in Davao Cemetery
On November 1, Tuesday, President Rodrigo Duterte visited the grave of his parents at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in his hometown Davao City.
Presidential son, Sebastian accompanied his father, arrived around 10:30 p.m.
President Duterte bowed on his parents’ tomb and kissed the marble casing.
The reporters asked the president that if the time comes, would he like to be buried at the heroes’ cemetery, President Duterte answered that he would rather be buried beside his father former Gov. Vicente Duterte and mother Soledad Duterte. As he spoke, “The greatest honor a man can have is to be buried from where he came from. Katabi nanay at tatay ko.”
President Duterte regularly visits the tombs of his parents on All Saints’ Day, on their death anniversaries and on their birthdays.
In May this year, after his invincible lead during the elections, the former Davao City mayor visited his parents’ grave and cried uncontrollably, asking for help from his mother and father.
