21 Jan LOOK! 19 Barangays in Agusan evacuated as river overflows
Almost 2, 300 families were displaced and about 8,700 individuals are in evacuation centers after their homes were hit by flood due to the rising water level of the Agusan River last Friday afternoon.
According to an article by Interkasyon, the water level has receded to 2.94 meter however this is still considered at the critical level. Authorities are advising residents not to be complacent since the water level could go up due to the bad weather.
Ten evacuation centers have been set up in Butuan City to accommodate the 2,300 displaced families. The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council released the list of barangays heavily affected, namely: Agao, Buhangin, Pangabugan, Golden Ribbon, San Vicente, Mahogany, Mandamo, Obrero, Maon, Tungao, Bading, Baan Riverside, Baan KM 3, Maibu, De Oro, Aupagan, Agusan Pequeno, Dankias and Fort Poyohon.
Other affected Barangays that were hit by landslides are the followin; Nongnong, MJ Santos, Maibu, Bugkusan and De Oro.
The City Social Welfare and Development had packed and distrubuted some 2,000 relief food packs.
