12 Sep Kagay-anon Lieutenant Receives National Defense Saber Award
Mga higala! 2nd Lieutenant Luwiemae Maceda from Cagayan de Oro City has received the prestigious Secretary of National Defense Saber Award during the closing rites of the Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Capas, Tarlac. The event was led by Philippine Army Vice Commander Major General Robert M. Arevalo.
She garnered the said recognition after gaining the top spot among over 168 students of the Officer Candidate Course “Emancipator” Class 50 of 2018 comprised of teachers, criminologists, nurses, engineers, bankers, agriculturists, and other professionals.
“I want to make a difference in the Filipinos’ lives. It doesn’t matter if I’m a female,” said Maceda. She also added that “We are very thankful that OCS had prepared us to be mentally, physically, and emotionally ready to face the challenges in the real world of armed service.”
Luwiemae Maceda is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Technology Communication at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTsP).
