08 May Archaeologists From UP Discover Ancient Artifacts In Alubijid, Misamis Oriental, Dating Back To 3,000 BC
Mga higala! ARCHAEOLOGISTS from the University of the Philippines (UP) have discovered ancient artifacts like tools and pottery, dating back to the 3,000 BC, in a dig site at Alubijid, Misamis Oriental.
According to Rappler, the dig site is located in a place called “Calumat” in Alubijid and sits on top of a hill overlooking the town proper and the national highway.

The ancient artifacts found on the Calumat site included various volcanic or obsidian stones that were used as tools by Homo sapiens, dating back to the 3,000 BC.
Pieces of Sa/win Kalanay potteries together with Chinese porcelains which are believed to be from the 500 BC, and the 13th to 15th centuries were also discovered.

With this amazing find, Alubijid Mayor Alvin Labis has stated that they will move for the protection of the site as this is a priceless find in their town, “extending our history as far as 3,000 BC.”
“We will cordon the discovery site to prevent further damage of the site, negotiate with the landowner to buy the land,” Labis added.
