Rufus Files Bill To Rename CDO International Convention Center After Late Sen. Nene Pimentel Jr.

Cagayan de Oro International Convention Center

Mga higala! Representative Rufus Rodriguez has filed a bill proposing to rename the P349-million Cagayan de Oro International Convention Center after the late Senator Nene Pimentel Jr, who died last October 20, 2019!

According to Rodriguez, Pimentel helped secure funds for the convention center, and that he is a true Mindanaoan, a native son of Cagayan de Oro City, and is also one of the pillars of the democracy of the Philippines.

“He was a staunch critic of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, and will be remembered as a freedom fighter who resisted martial law, resulting in his being imprisoned several times for his unwavering belief in democracy,” Rodriguez added.

“It is for these reasons that the yet to be completed Cagayan de Oro Convention Center should be renamed as the Aquilino Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center.”
