22 May Lawmaker Requests To Postpone Classes In PH Until COVID-19 Vaccine Is Available
Mga higala! Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. has filed House Resolution No. 876, which calls on the Department of Education (DepEd), the Commission on Higher Education, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infection Diseases to postpone classes in the Philippines until a vaccine for COVID-19 is available for everyone!
The said resolution requests to “halt the physical opening of classes and prohibit face-to-face classes” in all private and public schools from pre-school to college, including vocational education and training.
Moreover, Gonzales stressed that distance learning through the Internet is still not possible in provinces where telecommunication signals are weak, and added that even mobile phone communications in highly urbanized cities and towns are not reliable.
