Cockfighting and Similar Gaming Activities Still Prohibited in Cagayan de Oro

Due to the continuing threats of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the city government’s Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB) said that the prohibition of cockfighting and similar activities is still in effect, as ordered by Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

Until the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 (IATF) issues a resolution that allows the opening of cock derbies and other gaming activities, cockfighting will remain banned anywhere in the city of Cagayan de Oro.

RCB inspectorate team leader Antonio Resma, Jr reiterates that it’s not the LGU who sets the prohibition of cockpits from reopening or resuming its operations, but the national Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
