21 Jun 4 Malaysians from Sabah Allegedly Kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf
Last June 16, police received reports about the new kidnapping incident involving the Abu Sayyaf Group. This time, 4 Malaysians in Sabah were kidnapped Wednesday night.
Director of the Tawi-Tawi provincial police Senior Supt. Elizalde Quibuyen said that there were reports regarding the arrival of the hostages and the captors in Sitangkai town Wednesday night but they are yet to confirm the information.
This said kidnapping of four Malaysians happened as the police and the military have intensified the operations in Sulu against the Abu Sayyaf.
Of at least 11 battalions of soldiers have already been sent in Sulu alone however, hunting down the ASG remains a problem.
“We have already enough troops but the problem is the terrain which makes it difficult to hunt them. With the Martial Law imposition, we can control their movements,” said Lt. Gen. Ricardo Visayas.
