19 Sep 2 More Abu Sayyaf Hostages Freed, Result of Relentless Operations in Abus-Areas
September 18, 2016, Sunday, 2 Filipino captives of the Abu Sayyaf was able to walk free in the middle of massive military operations conducted against the said bandit group in the province of Sulu. Identified as Daniela Taruc and Levy Gonzales, both subcontractors of a Telecom company who were kidnapped in Patikul town on August 6, were recovered by a resident according to Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Major Filemon Tan Jr.
Taruc and Gonzales were freed in Panglima Estino town in Sulu at about 10:30 PM. And then they were brought to a military hospital in Bus-bus village in Jolo.
It can be recalled that Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad was freed on September 19, 2016, Saturday, after an alleged ransom of P30 million was provided to the Abus, followed by 3 Indonesian fishermen namely Lorence Koten, Emmanuel Arakian and Teo Doros Kofong on midnight.
“We are not stopping until they are destroyed. We have a strong mandate to destroy these bandits, and more hostages are released,” said Lieutenant General Mayoralgo dela Cruz who is the chief of Western Mindanao Command, adding that there will be more hostages expected to be freed with the incessant operations.
