In an article posted by Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has confirmed that the Joint Task Force Marawi has constantly received information that some of the remaining members of the Maute-ISIS extremist group are ready to surrender.

According to the AFP Spokesperson Major/General Restituto Padilla, the task force is determined to know the truth behind the relayed information.

He added that they became even more cautious in the battle area while they are trying to free Marawi City as the terrorists are also becoming more deceitful in their plans.

The AFP has recently confirmed that the remaining members of the terrorist group increased from 60 to 80 due to some of the hostages being forced by terrorists to join their offensives.

Furthermore, an estimated 40 to 60 civilian prisoners, including some women, are still in the hands of Omar Maute and Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) leader Isnilon Hapilon.

To date, there were already 869 deaths in which 673 were terrorists while 149 were government troops and 47 were civilians.
