REMINDER: All Cemeteries Are Closed From October 29 To November 4

Mga higala! The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is now reminding all local government units (LGUs) and police commanders to ensure that all private and public cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbariums are closed from October 29 to November 4, 2020!

This is in accordance with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte, which aims to prevent mass gatherings and cut the spread of COVID-19.

“September pa lang po nagbigay na ng kautusan ang Pangulo. We expect all LGUs to cooperate by ensuring that cemeteries within their localities are closed. Ito’y para walang mass gathering ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” said DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año.

However, before or after the said dates, cemetery visitors in Cagayan de Oro are allowed, with the following guidelines:

  • Barangay Exit Passes (BEP) will be required upon entry.
  • Only a maximum of 5 family members per grave is allowed.
  • No ambulant vendors are permitted to sell inside the cemetery and along roadsides.
  • Visiting time: 5:00 am to 5:00 pm only.
  • No overnight stay.
  • All visitors must register to the city’s Higala App for QR code scanning: higala.cagayandeoro.gov.ph/customer
  • The wearing of face masks and face shield and the observance of social distancing is required.
