Retired American Soldier Arrested in Drug Bust Operation in CDO

Following the drug bust operation inside an inn at Capistrano Street, Cagayan de Oro City, a retired US Army soldier was apprehended.

According to a report from Sun.Star, Chief Inspector Maricris Mulat, Police Station 1 chief, said that the suspect is a Korean but he is an American citizen and a retired US Army.

Dong Young Kim, 63 years old was arrested during a drug bust operation conducted on December 15, Thursday afternoon.

Kim who was staying at Hotel Koresco in Lumbia village was considered as a high-value target. He was supposed to sell drugs King Williams Inn and in other hotels in the city.

A sachet of suspected shabu that weighed 1.2 grams with estimated street value of P9,000 and the drug bust money worth P2,000 was confiscated by the authorities.

Confiscated shabu was brought to the Philippine National Police crime laboratory for examination.

The suspect is detained at the Maharlika Detention Center and will be facing charges for the violation of Section 5 of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Mulat affirmed that their operation against illegal drugs is still intense to the extent that even foreigners who are involved in the illegal drug trade are no exemptions.
