About 300 members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) held a school captive in Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, 120 miles south of Marawi City, captive today, June 21.

In an article from Dailymail UK, Chief Inspector Realan Mamon said in a radio interview that the BIFF exchanged gunfire with state military members which resulted in some students and civilians trapped inside the school.

Mamon added that the attack may have been done as a diversion from the ongoing clashes between the military and Maute terrorist fighters.

Pigcawayan Mayor Eliseo Garcesa said that he has yet to determine the number of affected individuals and casualties resulted from the terror attack.
