06 Nov Armed Group Burned Banana Plantation owned by Dole Philippines
In an article from Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro, a banana plantation owned by Dole Philippines Corporation was burned down by a suspected armed group in Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
It was also suspected that the motive of the burning was only due to extortion since the employees of the company were safe when the attack was made.
Captain Norman Tagros, Head of the Civil Military Operation of the 403rd Infantry Battalion, said that they are still in the process of determining whether the New People’s Army (NPA) was behind the attack or other militant groups around the area.
However, Tagros said that there are also possibilities that the NPA will take credits in burning the industrial plant.
