16 Aug Army from Negros Redeployed to Zamboanga to Combat Terrorism in Mindanao
On August 15, Monday, another Army infantry battalion with about 500 soldiers moved out from Negros to Mindanao.
The government’s campaign to address terrorism in Mindanao caused the redeployment of 11th Infantry Battalion from central Negros to Zamboanga as stated by Col. Francisco Delfin the 303rd Infantry Brigade commander. He added that other Army units were also stationed to Mindanao aside from the 303rd Infantry Brigade.
In 2015, military men from the 47th Infantry Battalion along with the 302nd Infantry Brigade was also redeployed from southern Negros to Bohol.
Confronting the remaining New People’s Army (NPA) are the 62nd and 79th Infantry Battalions that were left behind in Negros.
3rd Infantry Division surveillance units have also been dispatched to Negros together with the redeployment of the 11th Infantry Battalion in Mindanao, Delfin guaranteed that there will be no lawless area in Negros.
Bayanihan Team activities will pursue besides peace and development in remote areas, Delfin added.
11th Infantry Battalion will be under the supervision of Western Mindanao Command of Negros.
President Duterte has commanded the Army to obliterate the Abu Sayyaf and assured to support them. As he spoke, “Leave your worries. All you ever need to face your enemy, to be in a superior position to do your war, you will have it… even my presidential jet, it’s yours to use as a flying ambulance. I will just take commercial flights.”
Separate kidnap incidents of Abu Sayyaf Group still hold captive of 18 civilians which include 14 foreigners.
