After the Supreme Court has decided to allow Grace Poe to run for the coming presidential elections on Tuesday, poll body commissioner Arthur Lim expressed his disapproval mourning about the decision.

“This is a day of sadness, not for the Comelec, not even for the Supreme Court — but for Philippine democracy and the rule of law,” Lim said when him along with other members of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) faced the media after the decision was announced.

Earlier, Lim together with Commissioner Rowena Guanzon were the representatives from the Comelec in the Supreme Court oral arguments over Poe’s cases of disqualification. However, Lim congratulated Poe but added that he was hoping her victory wouldn’t mean “Goodbye, rule of law.”

On the other hand, Franklin Drilon, senate president of the administration’s Liberal Party (LP), who was in Cagayan de Oro when he knew about the news, was relieved now that the SC has already gave its decision towards the matter.

“I am relieved with it so that we can proceed with the election and choose the best leader that our country needs,” Drilon said.
