“Auring” To Possibly Trigger Overflow Of Mindanao Waterways & Cause Floods

Mga higala! Rain brought by Severe Tropical Storm Auring may trigger the overflow of various waterways in Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)!

Although Auring has not yet reached land, its cloud bands can already reach several regions and cause rain that will raise water levels and cause an overflow. The overflowing water can then spill from the waterways and flood nearby areas.

Local government units have been instructed to prepare for this possibility.

ICYDK, Auring is expected to make landfall over the eastern coast of the Caraga Region this Sunday morning, Feb. 21, 2021. It will then likely follow a generally northwestward path as it traverses Caraga Region, Visayas, and MIMAROPA.

Moreover, moderate, heavy, and/or intense rains are expected over the following areas starting tomorrow afternoon, Feb. 20:

  • Caraga Region
  • Eastern Visayas
  • Misamis Oriental
  • Camiguin
  • Bukidnon
  • Davao del Norte
  • Davao Oriental
  • Davao de Oro
