21 Jun A Resident from Balulang Killed, Habal-Habal Driver Arrested While Another Being Hunted
A graduating criminology student of Southern Philippines College (SPC) and a habal-habal driver from Sitio Balongis, Balulang, Cagayan de Oro named Sandy Rey Labadan, 23 years of age, was killed by a lone gunshot wound on the head. Declared dead on arrival at JR Borja General Hospital in Barangay Carmen.
According to Chief Insp. Gil Agpawa, one of the two suspects named Jerome Pimentel who is also a habal-habal driver was arrested dawn of Sunday, June 19, 2016, and was scheduled to be charged the next day before the City Prosecutor’s Office. Pimentel was given paraffin test as the investigators started examining an empty shell from a .45 caliber pistol which is suspected as the murder weapon.
The second suspect is currently being hunted after a witness came to the police and identified him as one of those who attacked Labadan as said by Agpawa.
The police said that personal grudge fueled the shooting of Labadan. According to witnesses, Pimentel and the victim has quarreled and engaged in fist fights a week ago. Meanwhile, Balulang barangay councilor Roldan Mabaylan who is the victim’s uncles, said that Pimentel was troublesome and have already faced a number of complaints from residents.
