Barangay Kauswagan Obtained Their 7th Cagayan De Oro’s Best Lupong Tagapamayapa Award

Barangay Kauswagan once again proved they’re the best at bagging their 7th Best Lupong Tagapamayapa Award.

After winning the said award, they will automatically represent Cagayan de Oro City at the national level of the competition this December 8, 2017.

As defined by the law, Lupong Tagapamaya is an Annual Award Program established pursuant to Section 406(b) of the Local Government Code of 1991 and Executive Order No. 394, s. 1997. This is in recognition of the Lupong Tagapamayapa’s contribution in the promotion of the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) objectives,   to strengthen the efficacy of the KP as an indigenous mediation structure capable of resolving disputes within a community, and beyond the formal courts of justice.  

Aiming to institutionalize the system of granting economic benefits and other incentives to Lupong Tagapamayapa for reason of exemplary performance in settling disputes within their community.

In an article from Sunstar PH, The City Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) revealed that Kauswagan has retained its top spot this year.

Among of the participating barangays in the said award were  Camaman-an, Canitoan, Nazareth, Gusa, Patag, Macabalan, Bugo and Lapasan, respectively.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Oscar Moreno is encouraging all 80 barangays of Cagayan de Oro to join the competition. This would allow our community to become conflict-free and be more progressive.
