Barangays Still Experiencing Water Interruption: 7 More Days To Fix Submerged COWD Water Facilities

Days before Christmas, Tropical Storm Vinta rampaged in Cagayan de Oro City. One of the damages of the storm caused the halt in Cagayan de Oro City Water District’s water distribution in barangays all over the city.

In fact, it has been five days since COWD disabled their facilities. The areas without water are Poblacion, Nazareth, Macasandig, Camaman-an, Lapasan, Gusa, Burgos, Consolacion, Puntod, and Macabalan.

5 production wells and 2 booster pumping stations located at Macasandig and Nazareth Central Service Area are currently submerged in floodwater.

Despite the efforts of COWD to continue supplying water to all residents, the production is still very slow.

The city’s water supply is barely enough to accommodate everyday activities.

Restoration of all damaged facilities is estimated to be complete by January 3, 2018.
