07 Jul Barangays Tipo Tipo, Silangkum, and Baguindan in Basilan Evacuated Due to Heavy Fighting

Currently occurring in Basilan is a mass evacuation of the residents from 3 barangays, Tipo Tipo, Silangkum and Baguindan, following the confirmed heavy fighting between government troops and the Abu Sayyaf near the center of Tipo Tipo.
According to the Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom), in defensive position in Tipo Tipo are the government troops following an alleged coercion by Abu Sayyaf members which number is yet to be determined.
