Solon Files Bill Seeking Jail Time & P300K Fine For Parents Who Fail To Provide Child Support

Child Support

Mga higala! Representative Paul Daza of Northern Samar has filed a bill imposing 2-4 years of jail time and a fine of up to P300,000 to parents who fail to provide child support!

The said bill, House Bill No. 44 aka the Child Support Enforcement Act, mandates that the amount of child support should be at P6,000 per month or P200 per day.

Daza expressed that children did not choose to be born and should not suffer the consequences once their parents separate.

“Parents should be responsible for the survival and well-being of their children. In cases of families with an absent or deadbeat parent or when separation of couples/parents are not avoidable, the family should continue to provide an environment of well-being and security,” said Daza.

He then added that the state should ensure that all children, including those in families where the other parent has refused or failed to give support, should have equal chances in life.

BTW, with this bill, qualified solo parents can also request assistance from the government in locating and filing cases against their no-good partners. For more details, watch:
