21 Sep Blind Masseur In Iligan City Resorts To Peeling Coconuts For Income Due To MECQ
Mga higala! Jonathan Javier, a blind masseur in Iligan City, has now resorted to working as a coconut husk remover after losing his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic!
The massage clinic where Jonathan previously worked in has been closed after the implementation of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), as a measure against the increasing number of local coronavirus cases.
Jonathan now only earns P200 per 1,000 peeled coconuts, which takes about 3 days to finish.
Thankfully, the government and some good samaritans have extended help to people like him.
However, Jonathan and many other blind masseurs in the city still need their jobs back to earn enough for their daily needs.
