Bureau of Customs Names Owner of Smuggled Cars Seized in Tagoloan

July 29, 2016 when the Bureau of Customs (BOC) revealed that the smuggled vintage vehicles seized at the Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental were owned by a car collector.

Identified as Rudolf Golez, the Vice President for Cultural Affairs and Dean Emeritus of the College of Music of the Liceo de Cagayan University, he imported the said vintage cars which amount to roughly P12 million. As said by Alvin Enciso, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, “Actually ‘yung nagparating nito dito ay one of the richest guys dito sa Cagayan de Oro.”, referring to Golez who is also known as a car collector. “Mahilig siya sa vintage cars. Madami sa school naka-display, may Ferrari.”

It can be recalled that last July 27, 2016, BOC agents were able to seize 5 container vans, with the one containing a 1979 Porsche 911 SC, a 1966 MBZ 280 SL and a 1970 Mercedez Benz 280 SL, of which all came from the United States.
