08 Feb Officials of Brgy Cauyunan, Opol Arrested in CDO for Carrying Guns and Explosives

In a report by Angelo Andrade of ABS-CBN News, incumbent village chief Epimaco Sacalon and councilor Michael Talampas of Barangay Cauyunan of Opol, Misamis Oriental were arrested by authorities after a caliber .45 pistol, an M79 grenade launcher, 11 40mm explosives and assorted ammunition were recovered from them when they were flagged down in Sitio Mahayahay in Barangay Tuburan, Cagayan de Oro.
Sacalon and Talampas will be facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition as well as illegal possession of explosives.
Sacalon, however, explained that his firearms were for self-defense contra communist rebels in his barangay.
