21 Sep Bukidnon Farmers Get P270 Million From DA To Produce More Vegetables
Mga higala! Bukidnon Farmers now have access to 270 MILLION PESOS worth of funds via a loan opened by the Department of Agriculture (DA), that will help them improve and expand their farms, and produce more vegetables.
The loaning program covers the towns of Impasugong, Talakag, Sumilao, and Lantapan, called the IMTASULA Vegetable Bowl, a group of cool mountain towns in Bukidnon, a perfect location for the production of various crops.
According to a post by Secretary Manny Piñol, he recently visited Talakag on Sept. 14 and brought officials from the conduit bank used by ACPC. They then turned-over P20 million to be used in buying the vegetables produced by the farmers.
The DA also turned over four farm tractors, 25 work animals including plows, 1,000 pieces of plastic crates for the Bukidnon Farmers, and arranged for the shipment of the first delivery of vegetables to Metro Manila using a refrigerated van.
Moreover, the mayors of the mentioned Bukidnon towns have agreed to draft a 5-Year Master Plan for Vegetable Production in the IMTASULA Region that aims to produce vegetables in 50,000 hectares with a funding requirement of P2.5-B.
The Master Plan will also include the identification of other infrastructure requirements of the area to produce more like irrigation facilities and farm to market roads.
