26 Aug Cagayan de Oro Records 2 Child Suicides This August
Mga higala! According to the Oro City Social Welfare and Development Department, Cagayan de Oro City has recorded 2 cases of child suicides this August 2020.
In accordance with this, the CSWD Psychosocial Division is urging all parents to closely monitor their kids during this pandemic and beyond, and focus not only on their physical needs but their mental health as well.
Parents are encouraged to look out for behavioral changes like:
- sleeping too much or too little
- lack of appetite
- withdrawal from family or friends
- feeling sad or down, loss of motivation
- talking or joking about about self-harm or suicide
You can then help them by:
- having a talk about how they’re feeling
- asking what you can do to help
- spending quality time or bond
