Mga higala! The City Government of Cagayan de Oro has received a fund of P10.3 million last July 23, 2018, from the PhilHealth Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for the enrolment of 50,000 indigent families last 2016.

According to an article by Sunstar CDO, the head of the City Health Insurance Office (CHIO), Dr. William Benardo, said that this amount is sort of an incentive awarded to the city for the health services and assistance that it has given to the public.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • In 2016, Mayor Moreno spent over P120 million to help around 50,000 indigent families in Cagayan de Oro in availing the benefits given by PhilHealth.
  • And, last 2017, a total of 70,000 indigent families in CDO have already become PhilHealth members who are able to avail free health care services.

Moreover, Marlon Arrbaca, an officer of PhilHealth-Northern Mindanao, expressed that they cannot put the burden of the public’s health care needs on the CDO government alone, that’s why they are paying the city with fund money that it can use to implement more helpful programs.
