Cagayan de Oro Gov’t Starts Full Implementation Of Plastic Bag Regulation

Plastic Bag Regulation

Mga higala! The City Government of Cagayan de Oro has finally commenced the FULL IMPLEMENTATION of its PLASTIC BAG REGULATION, effective last January 1, 2020.

Named as City Ordinance 13378-2018 or the “Integrated Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance,” this plastic bag regulation aims to prohibit fast food outlets, karenderyas, food kiosks, pharmacies, sari-sari stores, and other business establishments from using any kind of plastic cellophane in packing their dry goods or cooked food.

However, transparent roll bags will be allowed for unpacked meat, poultry, seafood, fresh fruits, and vegetables.

Violators will be issued with fines and/or a violation receipt by the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro).

Watch out for updates.
