01 Feb Cagayan de Oro Police Increases Security In Churches Due To Recent Bombings; Baggage Counters Added
Mga higala! The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) is now increasing their security measures in Catholic and other Christian churches in the city, due to the recent bombings in Southern Mindanao that killed soldiers and civilians.
Baggage counters have been installed, security inspections are being conducted, and barricades and patrols have been put up around church areas.
According to COCPO Director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon, they are now coordinating with parish priests regarding these added security measures.
Aganon stressed that backpacks and packages will not be allowed inside the church at all times, and will be left with the authorities until the mass is over. Random bag inspections will also be conducted on the streets.
“Pakiusap lang namin na mag-cooperate at sumunod na wag na magdala ng back packs kasi di naman kailangan ng back packs while nagdadasal so iwan na lang nila sa counter or better wag nang magdala,” Aganon said.
