08 Jul Where to call When You Need Help? President Duterte is There for You!
It has been confirmed by Sec. Martin Andanar that the 911 Nationwide Emergency Response Center and the 8888 Citizen Hotline will be fully operational starting August this year.
The “911” hotline number will be used as a replacement of the current “117” hotline number, which is criticized by the people because of its slow action regarding the complaints that has been sent. Thus, this is the system that President Rodrigo Duterte wants to implement for the whole Country.
The “911” hotline has been proven effective in Davao City for the policemen, firemen, and medical personnel to respond in needed situations without delay.
Meanwhile, the “8888” hotline will serve as the contact number to be reached to report corrupt government officials. This number can be reached 24/7 and will be manned by the Presidential Action Center (PACE), as commanded by Duterte.
Unfinished projects and abusive government workers can be reported in this number as well.
The president has also warned the people that they must only report legitimate stories and not use the hotline to deliver prank calls.
