The Cagayan de Oro City Local Government through the City Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMD) launched a more improved 911 emergency hotline number yesterday, August 28.

In an article from Sunstar Cagayan de Oro, the emergency hotline system was patterned after Davao City’s Central Communications and Emergency Response Center (Central 911).

Officer-in-Charge at the CDRRMD Allan Porcadilla said that members of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), Roads and Traffic Administration, Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) are tasked to man the hotline program for distressed individuals around CdeO.

He said the hotline number is made available for those who are using a landline or mobile devices. It is also allowed in the system to receive calls from mobile devices with or without load or of any telecommunications company subscription.

Porcadilla also reminded the public to refrain from contacting the response team using the hotline number other than its intended purpose and calling just to do some pranks.

Aside from situations of criminality and harassment, the hotline number is also intended for responding to calamity-related incidents.
