Cagayan de Oro City is set to host the 19th National Mango Congress and Summer Workshop on November 27 to 29, 2017 which will be held at the Limketkai Mall bannering the theme, “The Magic 20 Productivity: Achieving Productivity of 20 metric tons per hectare in 5 years”.

In an article from Sunstar Cagayan de Oro, this will be the second time that the city will be hosting the event which was made possible by the Philippine Mango Industry Foundation Inc. (PMIFI), Cagayan-Misamis Oriental-Bukidnon (CMB) Mango Growers Organization Inc., and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The Mango Congress advocates several important points such as to “…formulate and recommend programs, strategies, legislation to strengthen and improve mango production chain, and establishing adequate and sustainable supply in the domestic and national market,” to achieve a more stable and reasonable range of prices.

The event is expected to be participated by PMIFI member-associations, officers, and mango farmers, corporate and individual farmers, processors, exporters, input suppliers, mango traders, consolidators, as well as National Government officials, technical officers, local government technicians, logistic providers and stakeholders of the mango industry.

Topics that will be discussed in the event will focus on mango production issues and concerns such as strategies in production, planning and marketing mango products; depressed farm prices; low productivity; and cecid fly control and preventive integrated pest management.
