16 May CDeO Fire Officials to administer maintenance works on restaurants
In connection with the minor fire incident that took place at Gerry’s Grill at Centrio Ayala Mall last Sunday, May 14, the city fire officials oblige restaurants inside the malls to administer regular maintenance works in their chimneys to avoid fire incidents.
In an article from SunStar Philippines, the fire began in the kitchen area’s chimney. Initial investigation reveals that the fire occurred because (1) the chimney has accumulated dust particles, and (2) the hot temperature of the resto’s grill area might have caused the fire to flare up.
It was reported that Gerry’s grill has been conducting maintenance works on their chimneys at least twice a month yet fire officials advised that they should frequently clean their chimneys more than twice a month.
The fire caused P1500-worth of damage to the structure excluding the damages on the foods prepared and other stocks.
It took 33 minutes for the fire officials to extinguish the fire. By 9:00 in the evening, the fire was contained.
