11 Aug CdeO police discovered ammunition bullets at a junk shop in Brgy. Carmen
In an article from GMA News Online, a junk shop owned by a certain Jay Tan at Brgy. Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City was raided by the Cagayan de Oro City Police City Intelligence Unit yesterday, August 10, and discovered empty and live ammunition bullets.
Through a warrant of arrest issued by the CdeO Regional Trial Court Branch 18, the police recovered spent as well as live bullets of 50 caliber M16 and M14 guns after searching inside the junk shop.
Police Chief Insp. Ariel Philip Pontillas said that reports reached their department regarding a stock of bullets being stored in the junk shop. Their office then immediately put the area under surveillance and later on asked for a search warrant from the regional trial court.
Pontillas said that the ammunition shells were said to come from Marawi City. However, the arrested owner denied the claim and instead declared that the bullets are from Iligan City.
The owner of the junk shop will be facing criminal charges for violating RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
