In an article from CDO Infonet, the local tourism council gathered in a meeting with some of CdeO’s industry players last June 8, 2017 at Hugo Sky Lounge in Barangay Indahag.

The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the impact of the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao by the Philippine President following the attacks by local terrorist group Maute in Marawi City.

“Business as usual.” This was emphasized by the City Councilor and Committee on Tourism Chairman- Jay Roa-Pascual and Cagayan de Oro City Tourism Council Chairperson-Dorothy Jean Pabayo during the discussion.

Pabayo also said that the economy is doing fine and that nothing should be feared. “Let us do the usual things and not be affected at all because it is business as usual here in Cagayan de Oro City”, she added.

Several representatives from different sectors and offices attended the meeting which included Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (Cohara); resort, travel, and tour operators; Oro Rafters; representatives from City Tourism Office, Department of Tourism Region 10, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police and other stakeholders.
