15 Aug Cdeo Welfare Office Implements Strategic Monitoring Of Street Dwellers
In an article from Oro City Social Welfare and Development Department Facebook Page, the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) of Cagayan de Oro City started its operation on the strict monitoring of the presence of homeless people and street kids along major streets in the city yesterday, August 14, especially due to the celebration of the city’s fiesta.
In order to carry out the operation, 5 teams were deployed along areas of interests like Kauswagan Savemore, Bulua Overpass, Gaisano/Ayala Mall, Cogon Market, and Lapasan Puregold with the addition of a 6th team tasked to continue the monitoring of the Reach Out Program in night time.
During the operation, 4 kids were rescued who were identified as Children in Need of Special Protection (CNSP). Also, one boy was rescued who used to be the runner for buying vulca seal as an illegal inhalant of a group of street children. 3 children were brought to their own families and 1 was sent to the Oro Care Center for Children for temporary sheltering. In addition, 5 families from the ethnic group Bajaus were reminded of the policy on child protection rights.
