In an article published by Malaya.com, Carlo Paalam, a Kagay-anon young boxer was hailed champion against Kazakh national, Ashkat Zhusupov, in the 49 kilograms light flyweight division of the President’s Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan last Saturday night, June 10.
The 19-year old Paalam was the youngest member of the Philippine boxing team who was trained under the boxing program by the incumbent Cagayan de Oro City Mayor, Oscar Moreno.
The Kazakh boxer, Zhusupov, was a tough contender who has a powerful punch. However, Paalam used his footwork, quickness, sense of proximity, and sense of proximity to parallel Askhat’s strategy to mix up and win.
