12 Aug Corpus Christi’s Gabing and Ancheta Rule CDO South District Meet Chess Competition
August 12, 2016, the first board players to advance in Cagayan de Oro South District Meet chess competition were Meet Cressler Bruce Gabing and David Rey Ancheta of Corpus Christi, while the remaining rivals from other schools battling for the last slots.
Gabing was able to advance after defeating Kenneth Caingin, his teammate, during the fourth and final round of the high school boys division. While Ancheta faced fellow Corpus Christi bet Lance Rafael Magloyuan and won in the elementary boys category.
Meanwhile, Timothy Robert Mutia of Oro Christian Grace School won over his brother Matthew Robert after a tiebreaker, to qualify in the City Division Meet.
To compete for the remaining slots in the elementary and high school girls are Shelanie Catian and Sharmane Kate Geroso of South City Central School. Josean Albasin of Oro Christian and Angela Lapore of City High, Rethel Joy Almojallas and Richily Evanz Cuizon of Corpus Christi, and Bea Spohia Dupa of Corpus Christi and Mary Grace Pabillaran of Macasandig National High School.
