02 Dec CDO Councilor Slaps Traffic Enforcer Over Traffic Violation
A City Councilor of Cagayan de Oro slapped a traffic enforcer following the traffic violation committed by the councilor himself.
According to a report from Sun.Star, Cagayan de Oro City Councilor Zaldy Ocon slapped a Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) traffic enforcer Ric Emmanuel Agustin, aged 23 inside the City Council session hall on December 1, Thursday morning.
Agustin said that he wanted to settle the supposed traffic violation during a meeting at the session hall, however, Ocon slapped him on the right cheek saying “Bastos ka ha.”
Task Force Hapsay Dalan chairman lawyer Edgardo Uy and Engineer Nonito Oclarit of the RTA was with Agustin during the confrontation concerning the traffic violation committed by the councilor earlier that day.
Ocon was issued a traffic citation ticket by Agustin who was currently monitoring the Yacapin-Guillermo Streets, Cagayan de Oro City after he parked his SUV in a yellow box area. Parking is prohibited on roads marked with a yellow box.
Uy, on the other hand, said that they went there to clarify the incident but the unexpected happened and that they didn’t push through with the talk. He also thinks that it was personal.
He said that they will conduct an investigation regarding the incident and would hear both parties before taking the necessary actions.
Agustin will undergo a medical examination as he is also considering filing charges against the city councilor.
