24 Sep CDO Court Frees “Drug Queen Of The South” Previously Arrested @ Brgy. Kauswagan: PDEA Surprised
Mga higala! A court in Cagayan de Oro has freed Johaira “Marimar” Macabuat, tagged as the ‘drug queen of the South’, together with nine other companions from all the drug charges filed by PDEA agents, when they were arrested at Barangay Kauswagan in 2016.
According to Sunstar CDO, a judgment was released by the Regional Trial Court last September 21, stating that the “invalid search and seizure” conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao was the basis of their acquittal.
Marimar and her companions were released from detention at around 2 p.m., hours after the promulgation of judgment, said Jail Warden Erwin Kenny Ronquillo.
ICYDK, Johaira was arrested by PDEA agents by virtue of a search warrant in a raid last July 23, 2016, in her residence in Barangay Kauswagan.

PDEA-Northern Mindanao agent Ben Calibre expressed that they are saddened and surprised with the outcome of the case, but they will respect the court’s decision.
