Mga higala! The construction of Cagayan de Oro City’s P1.8 BILLION DRAINAGE SYSTEM is now stopped after LIMKETKAI changed its mind and banned DPWH in digging a subterranean drainage along a private road inside their complex.

According to a report from Rappler, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) stated that Limektkai agreed to allow digging earlier, but changed its decision in the last minute.

“We can finish the project connecting drainage within six months if they will allow us,” said Leowald Pecore, DPWH project engineer.

Pecore also added that the DPWH has already completed a massive drainage system that runs from CM Recto to Agora area that will drain rainwater into the Macajalar Bay, but, they need to bypass Bitan-ag Creek and connect it to the Agora drain via Limketkai’s road.

“If LKK will not allow the drainage, we will be forced to raise the national highway by almost a meter high, to prevent the flooding along the national highway,” Pecore said. This alternative solution will then require the demolition of the Limketkai overpass and will cause more than 6 feet of flood water in their 36-hectare commercial complex.
